What We Do

Kiwanis International’s core service areas are childhood health and nutrition, education and literacy, and youth leadership development. These areas are supported through local service projects and grant-funded initiatives, such as improving access to nutritious food, promoting reading skills, and funding programs that build character and leadership in young people.

Kiwanis core service areas:
๐ŸŽ Health and nutrition: Kiwanis clubs work to provide healthy food to children, address food insecurity, and support projects that have a positive impact on early childhood development.
๐Ÿ“š Education and literacy: Projects focus on improving literacy rates and providing educational opportunities for children and adults. Examples include book fairs and reading programs.
๐Ÿ“ˆ Youth leadership development: Kiwanis fosters youth leadership through its Service Leadership Programs, which include Key Club (high school), Circle K International (college), and Builders Club (middle school) and K-Kids (elementary school). These programs help young people develop leadership skills and engage in community service.

Kiwanis Sponsored Leadership Programs (SLP):

The Kiwanis family includes members of all ages and abilities. In addition to Kiwanis clubs for adults who serve kids, we offer Kiwanis Service Leadership Programs. Our SLPs are Key Club International for high school students, Circle K International for college and university students, K-Kids for elementary school students, Builders Club for middle school students and Aktion Club for adults with disabilities.

SLPs are leadership and character-building programs hosted in a school or community agency and often sponsored by a Kiwanis club or another civic organization. Kiwanis International offers resources and support to help anyone open SLP clubs wherever there is a need and opportunity in their communities.

Since the first Key Club was founded in 1925, millions of SLP members have been inspired to lead lives of service and significance.. Contact us to learn more.

Kiwanis Bring Up Gradesยฎ Program

Our Kiwanis Club plans to work with corporate sponsors to raise funds for our Kiwanis Bring Up Gradesยฎ program to empower kids to succeed in school. Bring Up Grades, or BUG, is a program that recognizes primary/elementary school age students who raise their grades or maintain good grades from one grading period to the next. Students are motivated to excel because they set their own goals – and they participate in peer mentoring, which involves their classmates in their success. When they reach their goals, the entire class celebrates.? Contact us to be a sponsor or learn more.

Kiwanis Terrific Kids Program

Terrific Kids is a character-building program that recognizes students for modifying their behavior. Thisย programย for primary/elementary school age studentsย encourages kids to become the best version of themselves.ย Terrific Kids provides teachers and facilitators with a tool to redirect negative student behavior while empowering and motivating kids.

Kids determine what being terrific means to them, then students work with their teacher and a โ€œgoal buddyโ€ to develop their own goals. They use peer mentoring to come up with actions they can take and hold themselves accountable for the actions each week to achieve success. When participants achieve their goals, they are recognized as Terrific Kids.

Students without behavior issues can still participate in Terrific Kids by working on skills they wish to improve and by being goal buddies. When participants achieve their goal, the entire class celebrates and recognizes their achievement.

The Terrific Kids sponsor handles the cost of the celebration (i.e. pizza party, certificates). The sponsor is often a local Kiwanis club alongside local businesses. Kiwanis is an international volunteer organization whose mission is to serve the children of the world. Contact usย to be a sponsor or learn more.

The program works because kids concentrate on themselves rather than competing with other students, decide what behavior they want to change, learn how to set and achieve goals, gain confidence from peer mentoring, become accountable and learn to problem-solve.

Key Club scholarships

Our Kiwanis club plans to raise funds for scholarships every year through fundraising.

Additionally, high schools members in good standing of Key Club International are eligible to apply for several Key Club College Scholarships, including Kiwanis Childrenโ€™s Fund Scholarship – $2,460, and Wagner Family Scholarship – $4,500.
